Supporter Spotlight – Helen Harvey, Modulr

At WEST, we’re fortunate to have the support of incredible partners like Modulr, whose commitment to empowering communities is helping us make a real difference in the lives of local young people. We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Helen Harvey, who leads Modulr’s social responsibility activities, for our first Patron Spotlight so we could learn more about the company’s journey and passion for supporting the Youth Zone.

  1. Tell us a bit about yourself!

“I’m Helen Harvey and as part of my role, I look after social responsibility at Modulr, along with internal communications, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion. Modulr provides secure embedded payments for businesses to help them achieve higher efficiency, a smoother experience and greater security. We’ve built an industry-leading payments platform that’s trusted by thousands of businesses across Europe to move billions. Our company has grown rapidly over the last nine years and we now have over 400 Modulites across London, Edinburgh, Amsterdam and Mumbai. Our London office is in White City – just over the road from WEST!”

  1. How did you first become aware of WEST Youth Zone? And what inspired the company to support us?

“As we’ve grown over the years, we wanted to harness our people’s collective passion and energy to support a community partnership – and we wanted to find one that ticked all of the boxes including a presence in our local communities, supporting the next generation and a cause everyone across our business would feel excited about. Our chairman, Rob Devey, was one of the first founding patrons for WEST and when we heard him talk about the amazing facilities and work that the team do at WEST, we wanted to be part of the journey.”

  1. What is your favourite room or activity in WEST?

“The facilities are INCREDIBLE! When I first visited WEST, I was lost for words at what was on offer for members. My favourite rooms has to be the climbing wall – watching the kids scale the wall in no time at all and with no fear was a great reminder of what you’re capable of if you let go of your fear of the unknown and just have a go.”

  1. How have you supported us so far?

“As well as our commitment to donate £100,000 over the next few years and support the development of Youth Zones in Scotland, we’re raring to go to offer WEST as much support as we can! Over Christmas, our employees donated their favourite childhood books so that we could kit out a new library for the centre packed full of exciting books. Next, we’re planning to support the cycle crowd-funder in March and our first ever take-over day, where we’ll have volunteers from Modulr onsite at WEST running a whole host of different activities!”

  1. Why would you encourage other organisations and individuals to support us?

“Firstly, I’d say arrange to see the centre – you’ll want to support as soon as you see it. The incredible team at WEST are super passionate and supportive, and that’s infectious. The difference the centre and the team are making to the lives of its members is amazing. This is a fantastic cause that will have a long lasting benefit to the lives of young people so I’d encourage everyone to get onboard.”

Modulr’s remarkable support highlights the power and need of businesses partnering with community organisations. Together, we’re creating opportunities that change young people’s lives and inspire the next generation. The WEST Team passes on our gratitude to Helen and Modulr for their incredible support – we couldn’t do our work without organisations like you!
