Arts Coordinator
Job Title Arts Coordinator
Hours: Permanent: 37.5 hours per week (including evenings and weekends)

Our Arts Coordinator will design and deliver creative arts activities for young people, overseeing the programmes for the Arts and Crafts room, Dance/Drama studio, Film and Media room, and the Music Studio. As well as this, they will provide line management support, coaching and development for arts sessional workers in their areas.

The purpose of this role is toplan and oversee the delivery of the climbing wall programme at WEST Youth Zone, creating and following risk assessments as required. To follow the TRY,TRAIN,TEAM Ethos in the sports department, develop and deliver an exciting, engaging and inclusive programme of activities which will engage young people aged 8 – 19 years (up to 25 for young people with additional needs). You will be an experienced climber, ideally with some experience in youth workand be committed to working with and creating positive relationships with young people. We are looking for Boxing Coaches/Youth Workers to deliver an exciting boxing programme which will engage young people aged 8 – 18 years (up to 25 for those with additional needs). The sports offer at WEST Youth Zone is wide ranging and as a member of the Sports Team, you will be key in ensuring young people have access to an exciting and engaging Boxing program that will be challenging, stimulating, fun, engaging and developmental. You will be involved in teaching the fundamentals of the sport to young people, as well as facilitating taster sessions, competitions and challenges which build young people’s engagement, skills, and fitness levels. You will coach and develop teams and support volunteerswithin the Sports Team. Ideally, you will have experience of coaching young people, and a relevant qualification in Boxing (Level 2).

The Cleaning Assistant will work with the Facilities Manager in the delivery of a common, efficient, and cost-effective cleaning service at WEST, Hammersmith and Fulham Youth Zone. The role holder will provide a high standard of cleaning services throughout the Youth Zone. As a crucial member of the team, you will contribute to ensuring that a great first impression is always given to young people, parents and visitors and that all areas of the Youth Zone are safe and clean. Open 7 days a week including school holidays, WEST Youth Zone’s purpose is to help young people grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults. The state-of-the-art building provides young people with a range of activities, giving young people the opportunity to try new things, meet new friends and gain support from friendly, warm and positive staff and volunteers. Facilities include a kick pitch, climbing wall, gym, sports hall and recreation area, and dance, arts, music and media suites.

We are looking for youth workers to work alongside our Inclusion Coordinator to support ourmembers with additional needs, bothon our universal sessions and our specific Inclusion sessions. The role is 100% face to face delivery with young people during evenings and weekends. The role of the Inclusion Youth Workers isto help deliver an accessible and inclusive offer to young people. During universal sessions, the Inclusion Youth Workers will help young people with additional needs to access different activities that the youth zone offers. For example, football in the Sports Hall and cooking in the Training Kitchen. Our Inclusion sessions, which run on a Sunday, will be for young people with additional needs only, Inclusion Youth Workers will help plan and deliver these sessions.

Sport is one of the cornerstones of our work and we have some fantastic facilities for engaging young people in; including floodlit all-weather rooftop pitch, a climbing wall, a boxing gym, a state-of-the-art fitness suite, a full-sized sports hall which is capable of being transformed into basketball, netball and badminton courts, as well as housing cricket nets. We also offer martial arts and much, much more.
The role will require you to assist with either our Juniors (8 -12 years) or seniors (13 -19 years) within one or more of our sports room. We are looking for people who have experience in one of more sports disciplines. Whether it be football, basketball, tennis or cricket –we’d love to hear from you!

Reception is the first point of contact for Youth Zone members, their parents, visitors, and suppliers. WEST’s receptionist is responsible for greeting and welcoming every young person as they arrive and ensuring they leave safely. The key purpose of the role is to ensure the young people enter the session smoothly, processing new members, directing phone calls and enquiries, maintaining the membership database efficiently and carrying out regular communication. The post holder will be part of a welcoming and professional team who are also positive about young people and will ensure the Youth Zone will function to its maximum potential. The ideal candidate will be someone with a clear ‘can do’ approach, committed to a growth mindset, eager to learn all for the benefit of supporting young people.
Catering Assistant

WEST Youth Zone offers both a nutritious hot meal and a tuck shop service on every session that we run. Whilst the Kitchen Supervisor cooks the food, the Catering Assistants serve the food and are integral to the successful operation of catering for the young people. You will be responsible for food hygiene, using the EPOS machine to sell items and manage stock, serving food, interacting with young people, washing up and keeping the kitchen clean, doing statutory paperwork and cashing up. Depending on the rota and your own cooking abilities, there may also be opportunities for you to teach cooking to young people directly in our training kitchen.
